Natural Area

The natural areas of Eastern Ontario are outstanding features that contribute to the diversity of life and the maintenance and preservation of the natural environment.  These areas add to the natural heritage and scientific understanding of the physical evolution of the region.  These areas are significant contributors to tourism and the recreational economy of Eastern Ontario. There are eight significant natural areas in Eastern Ontario: 

• Lake Country
• The Frontenac Arch
• The 1000 Islands
• The Ottawa-Bonnechere Escarpment
• The Alfred Bog
• The Mer Bleue
• The Larose Forest
• The Marlborough Forest
