![]() Special PlacesDue to the high number of historic settlements and the somewhat slower-pace of development in Eastern Ontario, many unique and attractive ‘special’ places have survived relatively intact. Some, such as Upper Canada Village or the historic campuses of Queen’s University or the University of Ottawa, are well-known destinations. Others, such as the historic British Military towns of Perth and Brockville, and the Franco-Ontarian settlements, such as St-Isidore, Embrum, and Alfred, are less well known.
